Kochi United SC, the first run solo. Stay behind the scenes of the game and explore the secrets of strength!

Watching sports

Kochi United Sports Club (SC) is running solo in the Japan Football League (JFL) in the 2024 season. This time, we will closely follow the Briobecca Urayasu match on Sunday, June 30 in order to explore the strength of the team beyond technology and tactics! Report the secret of strength seen from the back of the match.

To Kochi's first J League! Steps of the Team

It was in 2020 that Kochi United SC was promoted to JFL. The first year was 14th place, the second year was 13th place, and the third year was 11th place, but the fourth year, the 2023 season, rose to 7th place. Last year, we have steadily strengthened our strength, such as defeating J1 Gamba Osaka and Yokohama FC in succession at the Emperor's Cup. The 2024 season, the fifth year, has maintained a strong performance of 13 wins, 2 losses and 1 minute as of July 19, and has been running alone since the opening.

This year's Kochi United SC is also focusing on community-based initiatives. With the concept of "a club loved and needed by the community", the office has been relocated to the center of Kochi City where supporters and volunteers can easily drop in. At the time of the relocation, the players greeted the store in the shopping district and were welcomed by local residents. In addition, players participate in events held in shopping streets to deepen ties with the local community.

Kochi citizens are passionate about the players who are familiar and also longing for children. Some companies in the prefecture provide part-time jobs after training for players and support their lives. The number of supporters who came to support each match increased, and 1,528 people, who filled 90% of the seats, came to the JFL Section 14 Briobecca Urayasu match on June 30, 2024. Kochi United SC is growing into a “team loved by the community”.

The team is aiming to enter the J League for the first time in Kochi, and has applied to the Japan Professional Soccer League (J League) to obtain a J3 club license for the 2025 season. If it is approved by the J League Board of Directors and meets the membership requirements stipulated by the J League, it will be possible to enter the J League next season.

Please see this page for enrollment requirements set by the J League and players who pursue their dreams while working at a company in the prefecture.

Real face before the game

Briobecca Urayasu match was held on June 30 (Sun) at Haruno General Sports Park Stadium in Kochi Prefecture. "Spoll! Kochi's coverage team worked closely with the team before the game to get closer to the players' real faces.

The players arrived at the game venue around 11:00, about three hours before the start of the game.

"Hello~" players who speak to supporters and volunteer staff. It gives you a refreshing smile even before the match. This friendliness is why it is loved by local residents.

Around 12:00, the players who entered the bench stretched in front of the locker room. Every player takes time to stretch carefully to achieve the best performance. Some people are chatting, and you can see that you are relaxing in the tight air.

With the support of the trainer, all players will be in perfect condition.

At 12:40, watering with a sprinkler started. Supporters at the backstand also started cheering by hitting the drums. Production is approaching!

With the mood of the venue increasing, the players finished their individual stretches and warmed up for 30 minutes. From the appearance of speaking to each other and sometimes smiling, you can see the goodness of teamwork and the good atmosphere within the team.

During the warm-up, which gradually increases strength, coach Takeshi Yoshimoto and coaching team will raise the morale of the players, saying, "I'll raise it to 100%!" Players who gradually increase their motivation toward the actual performance while relaxing their mind and body. From that figure, I felt a sense of tension and calmness unique to the team that continues to maintain the lead with the goal of entering the J League.

Hot fight! I have a glimpse of the team’s unity!

Before the start of the match, the members prepared buckets and towels with ice water to support the physical side of the starting member. Not only does each person standing on the pitch fulfill his responsibilities, but everyone, including the refrain, is united to challenge the game in front of us. This dedicated attitude and unity are the charm of Kochi United SC.

10 minutes before the game starts. The tactical meeting in the locker room is over, and the coach will inspire the players again on the back of the bench.

“Speak to each other! Communicate with everyone! All 11 people should play their role. Do it! If you are tired, give it to the backup member! Trust your friends! Do what you need to do! Don't hesitate! Let's go!" We will improve the mental condition and create a team that fights.

A circle will be formed.
"I'm going!" said Captain Daichi Kobayashi. There are 18 screams!

High-touch with the starting members, the waiting members, the directors and coaches to the pitch. With the passion of everyone involved in the team, the motivation is at the climax!

In the first half of the game, there was a scene where Briobecca Urayasu, who was the leader of overthrow, was attacked, but the GK and DF team were dedicated to hard defense and did not allow scores. On the other hand, the MF and FW team will continue to play tenaciously to take advantage of opportunities.

Bench members also speak out of the bench on their side's pinch, analyze the game and look for clues to attack.

Both teams turned back in the first half by 0-0 in an antagonistic game development that did not cut off their concentration.

The waiting members shouted, "Nice!" and greeted the players who came back from the pitch. Young, middle-aged, and veterans unite their hearts and say, "From here!" “We will definitely win!” they encourage each other.

In the second half, all the bench-mavers started warming up. Prepare as a team so that you can change at any time depending on the game development.

During the warm-up, we always look at the battle situation, and we are fighting with the whole team.

The game took place at the end of the game. Kochi United SC always develops games calmly and sometimes flexibly. In the 38th minute, FW's Seiki Shinya, who was introduced from the second half, responded to the right cross and won a PK.

Shintani himself scored a goal calmly, and this was the final bullet. Kochi United SC, who played all the players, won 1-0!

Support of supporters is also great.

Kochi United SC has won a victorious game development. From careful preparation and calming games, the interview team was able to feel the sincere gaze of the players who were just pursuing victory and the sense of unity drifting throughout the team up close.

The goal of Kochi United SC is to enter the J League. Everyone is sharing it and fighting each battle. Each person realizes and executes his / her responsibilities, and at the same time develops a game while trusting each other. It may be the height of individual consciousness and unity that pushes the team up upwards.

Another power to push the players’ backs. Supporters gathered at the game venue.
The voice of "Kochi SC!" ringing from the warm-up. Even during the game, cheering for the players will not stop. The day was hot and humid and was quite severe, but the support of the supporters was changed to strength, and the players were chasing the ball with all their might until the end.

After the victory, the audience said, “I did my best!” We praise the players who bow at the pitch field saying "I did it well!" In addition, 15 minutes after the end of the game, there was an annual postponement by the players outside the venue. It's like a festival!

Players willingly respond to autographs and commemorative photos. After the match, the fan service without losing a smile even though it is fatigued. Supporters are delighted with the gentlemen's response of the players.

An elementary school girl said, "I love Kochi United! I'm collecting the players' signatures! It was good that Shintani decided on PK today! "
“I always come to see you at home. If you come to support me, you will be fine!” It was an elderly woman who came to support me with her friends. In addition, a man who is active as a supporter club said, "I have been supporting it since the predecessor Igosso Kochi era. We want the community to be revitalized through football. I hope this excitement spreads even more! We welcome the Away team who will come to Kochi for the game,” he said of his love for soccer and respect for the players. Indeed, many Kochi citizens have received energy and courage from Kochi United SC.

After the match, coach Takeshi Yoshimoto said, "The cheering of supporters is a good pressure on the players. "Today, with your support, the players fought hard to win."

Shintani, who decided on PK, said, "Your support has helped. I'm just able to score in FW and I think it's a win that I won with a team, not individuals. I will continue to do my best without satisfaction,” he said.
