Challenge to 100km
I couldn't imagine myself five years ago when I was going to try a 100km race.

It has been about five years since I started marathons. I have completed the full marathon several times, and I have been fascinated by the sense of accomplishment.
Last year, I participated in the 60km section of the Shimanto River Ultra Marathon, and after the goal was to experience for the first time, my body screamed, and the memories of talking with those who participated together with "Is this distance going to run again?" Is still revived.
On the other hand, even after that, marathons are beyond mere exercise and competition, and are so absorbed in daily life. The self-growth gained through daily practice, the sense of accomplishment when the goal is achieved, the sense of unity with the people who support us along the road, and the fun of meeting runners have led us to a new challenge.
Finally, the challenge to 100 miles.
What's your goal?
The stage is the 30th Shimanto River Ultra Marathon. A 100km course where you can enjoy the magnificent nature of the Shimanto River basin, the last clear stream in Japan.

The goal this time is to aim for sub-10 (complete within 10 hours)!
The 100km journey is an unknown world, so I can't imagine what kind of trouble will happen to my body, but the goal is high and I would like to challenge it.
If you calculate it simply, you can achieve it if you run at a 6-minute / km pace, but considering time loss such as eating at an aid station that supplies energy and restroom, you have to run at a 5-minute 30-second / km pace.
If it is about 42 km of the full marathon, it is a pace that you can run, but considering that you will run more than twice the distance and the distance that you add one half marathon, I feel quite severe.
This operation!
This is this strategy!
- Don't be at a high pace.
- Don't overdo it in the first half of the pass, and keep your feet firmly.
- In order to avoid lack of calories or sodium, aid should be firmly supplemented.
- Respond to support along the road
- Never give up until the end
- Imagine a beer after the finish.
Perhaps the ultra marathon is a test of not only the past running experience and current physical strength, but also the mental part.
Together with the runners who run together, I would like to change the scenery of the nature-rich Shimanto River and the support of the roadside, and do my best to the end.

On that day, I will wear this T-shirt and run. Please feel free to contact us if you see it.

Introduction of Shimanto River Ultra Marathon

The Shimanto River Ultra Marathon is an ultra marathon with a beautiful natural environment known as one of Japan's leading long distance races. A course where you can fully enjoy the charm of Shimanto's autumn, where the vivid autumn leaves that have begun to change color are reflected on the river surface, will heal the hearts of people running as a special experience that can only be enjoyed here.

There are two types of distances: 100km and 60km. Both are characterized by Shimanto River's famous sinking bridge and the course layout along the Shimanto River centering on the old road where rich nature remains surrounded by mountains.

On the 100km course, there is a pass with a height difference of about 600m at the beginning (about 20km point), and if you cross it, the remaining 60km will be a almost flat road.

The warm support of local residents and staff is one of the great attractions of this tournament.
For runners looking for a sense of unity with nature and the excitement of challenging their limits, the Shimanto River Ultra Marathon is a tournament you want to participate in once in a lifetime.
