Report on the 1st Seminar

The first seminar on August 16, 2024 was held by renting out the Haruno General Sports Park Athletics Stadium. Approximately 30 runners aiming to finish the race, about 30 runners aiming for the goal in the 5-6 hours range, about 60 runners aiming for the 4 hours range, and a total of about 130 people from beginners to intermediate level participated.

The first thing we did was stretch. This is an advice on "easy conditioning" by Osamu Yoshida, a physiotherapist and an athletic trainer certified by the Japan Sports Association.

"Let's always know your condition," Mr. Yoshida said. He taught preparatory exercises that can be done in 10 to 15 minutes, such as stretching his chest and opening his shoulders, horizontally rolling his neck, and stretching his thighs and ankles behind him.

"Let's stretch out a tired place. Stretching between desks will help you,” he advises.

After stretching is practical. Lecturer on this day is Ryo Matsumoto from Kochi Prefecture who is a former member of Toyota Motor Corporation's long distance department. He is a top runner who also participated in the MGC last year, and plans to run in the full marathon as an invited player at the Ryoma Marathon 2025.

Participants lined up on the track of the stadium. Mr. Matsumoto advised on how to stimulate the muscles that it is effective before running.
First, straighten the axis of the body. Stand one foot and then run the truck.

Next, stimulate from your ass to the back of your thighs. You can also jump 10 times and then flow lightly. "If you do these things before you run, your muscles will work," says Matsumoto. Participants listened eagerly and practiced the practical advice of professional runners.

After that, Mr. Matsumoto showed a model in front of the participants. Applause from the participants unexpectedly for a stable run with no upper body!

Along with Mr. Matsumoto, the intermediates also go around the truck. "Please run at your own pace," Mr. Matsumoto said. "Please shake your arms firmly so that you don't run with your feet alone." "The full marathon is long." Don't rush in the first half, let's keep your physical strength in the second half."

In addition, beginners received guidance from a walking coach and received basic advice, "Let's open and stretch your chest" and "Let's swing both hands wide."

The one-and-a-half hour seminar ended quickly with the training, walking, and running skills that are the basis of the marathon. At the end, Mr. Matsumoto said, "I want you to practice while valuing the basics. I will also participate in the tournament, so I want to be prepared well. "

Through the seminar, he interacted with the runners in his hometown Kochi, and Mr. Matsumoto himself enjoyed it. "I've been well received from you all. The level is everyone's own, but I think it's the same to get energy and courage through the marathon. On the day of the tournament, I look forward to seeing you with a smile! "A warm word.

Voices of Participants

We also deliver the voices of the participants. First of all, Mr. Nishikawa is the first marathon challenge.

How did you participate in this seminar?

"My colleague at work has been participating in the Ryoma Marathon all the time, and 5.6 years have passed, saying that I would like to run myself. This time, I decided to run to commemorate my 50th birthday and applied for a running seminar."

What are you talking about at work?

"I feel good when I finish, there's support along the road, I can see the scenery, and I can run. I’ve already done the entry!” 。

How was today's seminar?

"It was a good experience to learn the basics of stretching. I have already applied for the second time. I haven't had any sports experience before, and I'm really a beginner in marathons, so I want to gain strength from now on."

For 6 months, do your best to train! I'm looking forward to seeing you at the end of the day.

Next is Mr. Yamazaki, a veteran who has been a marathon for 30 years.

Why did you participate this time?

"I've been running the Ryoma Marathon all the time, but the last time I didn't have a schedule. I also had a marathon for about a year. But since I turned 70 this year, I decided to run again in commemoration, so I participated in the seminar to start again from training."

How did you start a marathon?

"When I was drinking with my colleague, I talked about a marathon in Majimura and came out unexpectedly! I told you. Even though I was a completely beginner, I decided to run (laughs). But I finished the first time, and it was fun to feel like it was at that time.”

Do you personally start training?

“I have a blank, so I start walking first. Today I walked 20 kilometers along the mountain road with my friends. It's fun to have a running partner. We can run together.”

Yamazaki has a wonderful smile, saying, "I think it's also good for your health." “On the day of the tournament, I want to work hard for four hours. I would like to participate in the next seminar."

Finally, Mr. Kusose, a marathon beginner, is a parent and child.

How did you participate in the Ryoma Marathon?

"I'd like to try a full marathon someday, and I've been thinking about changing my life for many years. I turned 50 this year, so I decided to try it,” she said. "My husband has been running since the second time in the Ryoma Marathon. I'm a beginner, and this time I invited my son too."

Why did you participate in this seminar?

"I usually receive advice from my husband, but today I participated because I wanted to receive professional guidance. When I saw everyone running, my motivation increased.”

My son is now 19 years old. "I wanted to take part in a marathon once, so it was just a good opportunity."

What are your goals for the day?

“First of all,” you two. My mother said, "My son is a sports experience, so I would like to go first instead of accompanying me," and the son said, "Yes, I'll go first!" Is enough.

Mother who is also conducting personal training under the advice of the owner of a marathon experiencer. Please do your best to finish the race on the day. I'm waiting for you at the goal!

In addition, a total of 10 running seminars are supported by marathon enthusiasts who act as pace runners on the day of the tournament.

Mr. Kuichi Ueda, who organizes pace runners, said, "I want as many people as possible to enjoy running. And I want you to challenge the Kochi Ryoma Marathon and find what is at the end of the goal. " “I want many people to enjoy the excitement of the goal. I would like to send an ale to the runners through the seminar," says Ueda. The dream I envisioned was, "It is such a town planning where runners come and go in the city of Kochi, exchange greetings, and everyone is fine."

On the day of the tournament on February 16, 2025 (Sun), you should be able to see the smiles of runners envisioned by Ueda in the city of Kochi. Runners, please work hard to prepare for the tournament while using seminars. Also, those who have not yet entered the tournament will be enough in time. We look forward to your participation in the tournament entry and running seminars.
