Kochi training camp for the 2023 Fukuoka World Swimming Championships

This summer, the "World Swimming Championships 2023 Fukuoka Tournament (sponsored by the World Swimming Federation)" will be held in Fukuoka Prefecture, where world-class players will participate.

The event will be held in Japan for the first time in 22 years since 2001 (Fukuoka Games), and it is expected that the event will be greatly exciting. In preparation for the 2023 Fukuoka World Swimming Championships, teams from around the world are holding training camps in various places, and Czech and Austria teams will hold training camps in Kochi Prefecture.

Why in Kochi Prefecture?

It was called "Host Town".
"Host Town" is a local government that provides training grounds and training camps to athletes in specific countries during international sporting events, and supports sports and cultural exchanges.
At the time of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, exchanges began in Kochi Prefecture as a host town project, with the acceptance of training camps for Czech canoes and swimming teams.
This time, not only the Czech Republic but also the Austrian team, which has a deep exchange with the Czech Republic, will also hold Kochi training camps, and the circle of international exchange is expanding.

This time, a swimming team from the Czech Republic, and an artistic swimming (AS) team from Austria will participate in the competition.

According to the website of the Japan Swimming Federation, "Scoring competitions in which performances are performed according to music and other swimmers, and the degree of perfection and simultaneousness of skills, performance composition, artistry and expressiveness, and difficulty of skills. Competition events include solo, duet, mixed duet, team, free combination, and highlights, and the competition program includes technical routine competitions consisting of defined elements and free acting." In fact, until 2017, it was an event called synchronized swimming that was familiar to you.

The first notable player is Felix Obok, an Austrian swimming team.
The 198cm tall and nice obok player has won a gold medal in the 400m freestyle 400m "World Swimming Championships 2021 Abu Dhabi Tournament". It's a really valuable opportunity to see the golden medalist swim up close.

The training camp will be held at the 50m pool at Kuroshio Arena in Godaiyama, Kochi City.

Admission is free, and general viewing is possible from the 2nd floor seats.
